Arshia Sattar has a Ph.D from the Department of South Asian Languages and Literatures at the University of Chicago. She reads, writes and teaches about classical Indian literatures, specifically, epic myth and the story traditions of the Indian sub-continent. Among other texts from Sanskrit, she has translated Valmiki’s Ramayana (Penguin,1996). Most recently, her publications include “Lost Loves: Exploring Rama’s Anguish” (Penguin, 2011) and “Uttara: The Book of Answers” (Penguin: 2016). She also writes for children. Her “Ramayana for Children” (Restless Books, 2017) is available world-wide.
