Subas pani is an author, translator, composer and creative director with a PhD on Jayadeva’s Geetagovinda. A civil servant by profession, he was Chief Secretary to the Government of Odisha and Secretary to the Government of India. With a lifelong deep and abiding interest in the heritage of India and especially of Odisha, his research interests cover the cultural traditions of Odisha, Jagannatha and Geetagovinda. He has been a commentator for the live telecast of Ratha Yatra for the national and international channels of Doordarshan, the national television broadcaster of India, for more than two decades. A published author with ten titles in English and Odia, his most recent book Ratha Yatra, The Chariot festival of Sri Jagannatha was released in 2017.
